Rain. Rain. Rain - sums up the past few minutes.....hours.......DAYS!!!!
Welcome to Rain - oops I mean Bathurst. This beautiful, nature filled, beach going town - was drowning in the rain!
The 2 and a half days we were here it consistently rained hard, making it hard to do any "scenic" viewing of this wonderful city. Deciding it was best to hole up for a day - or until the rain "softened", we headed to the greatest place in the world for bad weather - WALMART!!!
Scavenging through the endless DVD bins that they provided us with, we scored some old school bargains, at old school prices (Season 1 of the Apprentice $5 - plenty of good laughs and viewing!!) as well as some other classics!!!
Deciding it was best to leave Bathurst (after the torrential downpours we had experienced, we made our way west, towards Quebec, intent on stopping at Edmundston to check out the festivities that were going on. Checking out Grand Falls was well worth it (around 40 mins south of Edmundston, towards the border of Maine and Quebec), these falls are the largest water falls east of Niagara. Impressive they were - especially with the amount of rain that had fallen, causing it to surge through the canyon at great speed -normally, the area we viewed is like a swimming pool during summer, so it was good to see it in full swing! Getting drenched whilst taking in this beautiful water fall (and with the two of us jumping in every puddle we found on the way back to the car - yeah - really mature!!!), we made our way to the township of Edmundston.....ready for - hmmmm - less rain!
As we found in Bathurst, the weather was not very friendly, torrentially raining for the afternoon, evening and the next morning.
Frustrated at the lack of "sunshine" and with the forecast not looking too friendly for the coming days, we packed up our kit, making our way to Quebec (province). Luckily we did, as the rain continued to fall after we had passed through, causing plenty of damage, evacuations and frustration to the many travellers leaving New Brunswick.
