Another bright and beautiful day led us to the farmers market, where hundreds of people gathered for fresh fruit and veg, fine foods and many local craft products (some of which we scored pretty cheap!!!).
Touring around, we soon found ourselves riding on FRED - Free Rides Everywhere Downtown - a bus service that takes you to all the attractions - FREE!!!! We love FRED!!!
We made our way up to the Halifax citadel - an old war barracks / stockade / fort, where Highlanders resided, as well as many other soldiers. Dressing up in full uniform and still occupied by some within the forces, we were toured around the site with a private, who is majoring in peace and conflict resolutions.
At noon, the cannons sounded, setting the time for Eastern Canada - which was pretty cool (and loud!!!)
During the evening we took in a dinner/show at the local theatre. The performers were all our waiters, which was amusing. The play was titled "Cape Breton Idle 3", after the first 2 Idles had been huge successes. Based on American Idol, they poked fun at everything, from the crowd, to the "contestants", to the locals in Cape Breton (4 and a half hours away - the Tasmanian equivalents of Aus!!!)
A great night was had, with many laughs etc. Both Kate and I were in stitches!!!!
